The Intel® Core™2 Duo desktop processor delivers revolutionary dual-core performance and breakthrough processor energy efficiency.

Based on the revolutionary Intel® Core™ Microarchitecture, the Intel Core 2 Duo processor has been developed for an increasingly multimedia-centered, high-definition world, and is designed to do more in less time.

Intel Core 2 Duo processors operate at lower frequencies while producing higher performance compared to today’s higher frequency processors, thus enabling quieter and smaller desktop PCs.

A platform based on the Intel® 965 Express Chipset family with an optimized memory engine for improved system performance, is the ideal compliment for the Intel Core 2 Duo processor. This combination of processor and chipset brings an unparalleled level of performance to the desktop.

Dual-Core Processing	Two independent processor cores in one physical package run at the same frequency, and share up to 4 MB of L2 cache as well as up to a 1066 MHz Front Side Bus, for truly parallel computing.
Intel® Wide Dynamic Execution	Improves execution speed and efficiency, delivering more instructions per clock cycle. Each core can complete up to four full instructions simultaneously.
Intel® Smart Memory Access	Newly designed and optimized functions for reducing wait time, moving data and accelerating out-of-order execution, keep the pipeline full improving instruction throughput and performance.
Intel® Advanced Smart Cache	The shared L2 cache is allocated to each processor core based on workload up to the full amount of total cache. This is more efficient than today’s dual-core processor. Sharing the cache significantly reduces the time needed to retrieve frequently used data improving performance.
Intel® Advanced Digital Media Boost	128-bit SSE instructions are now issued one per clock cycle effectively doubling their speed of execution over previous generation processors. This benefits a broad range of applications including video, audio, encryption, engineering and scientific with improved performance.
Intel® Virtualization Technology	Intel® VT allows one hardware platform to function as multiple “virtual” platforms. For businesses, Intel VT Technology¹ (Intel® VT) offers improved manageability, limiting downtime and maintaining worker productivity by isolating computing activities into separate partitions.
Intel® Extended Memory 64¹ (Intel® EM64T)	Enables the processor to access larger amounts of virtual and physical memory.
Execute Disable Bit²	Provides enhanced virus protection when deployed with a supported operating system preventing certain viruses from infecting the system.
Intel Designed Thermal Solution	Includes a 4-pin connector for fan speed control to help minimize the acoustic noise levels generated from running the fan at higher speeds for thermal performance.3 Fan speed control technology is based on actual CPU temperature and power usage.
